Romney leads Obama among middle-income Americans: Poll | Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a lead over President Barack Obama among middle-income
Americans, according to a poll. According to the Gallup poll, almost 49 percent
Americans, who have income of 36,000 dollars to 89,999 dollars, preferred Romney
over Obama at 45 percent. The poll results revealed that Obama trailed Romney
with almost 45 to 49 percent votes among upper income voters, who have a household
income of 90,000 dollars or more. However, among lower income voters, Obama leads
by a 15-point margin, besting Romney 53 percent to 38 percent, Politico reports.
Romney had an 8-point advantage among registered independents, who have an income
between 36,000 dollars and 89,999, dollars, leading with 48 percent over Obama
at 40 percent. However, almost 80 percent non-whites prefer Obama to Romney at
12 percent, a 68 percent gap. Both candidates have made middle class security
a top theme - with Romney emphasizing job creation and Obama emphasizing education, tax cuts and preserving the social safety net.
