The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday won elections in four civic bodies, while Left Front retained power in one and the Congress in one Notified Area Authority. The TMC bagged the Durgapur and Dhupguri municipalities from the Left Front, while retained power in Panskura and Nalhati. The Left Front retained Haldia Municipality , while the Congress again won the Coopers Camp Notified Area Authority. Polls to the six civic bodies were the first major local elections after the 2011 Assembly polls when Mamata Banerjee's party had stormed to power, ending 34 years of Left Front rule. Civic body elections were held last Sunday.
