Clashes between Jagan supporters and TDP in Kadapa | Supporters of the arrested YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy and the Telugu Desum Party
(TDP) clashed here on Monday, leaving one injured. According to police, YSR Congress
candidate from Rayachoti assembly seat, Srikant Reddy and TDP candidate Balasubramanyam
were campaigning in the same area. As the rival groups came face to face, they
resorted to sloganeering, which was followed by stone pelting in which one TDP
worker was injured. The security personnel accompanying Srikant Reddy had to fire
shots in air to disperse the clashing groups. Both the leaders have lodged complaints
against each other in the Rayachoti police station. Additional security personnel
have been rushed to the spot to prevent further disturbances. Earlier in the day,
the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned Jaganmohan Reddy for the
second successive day, in connection with the alleged disproportionate assets
case. The CBI, given the MP's custody for five days, took him from Chanchalguda
Central Jail to its office at Koti, three kilometers away. The questioning took
place in the presence of Jagan's lawyers. Jagan was questioned for over six hours
on Sunday at the office of the Director General of prisons. He was arrested by
the CBI on May 27 and has been sent to judicial custody by the CBI court till
June 11. Jagan is accused of conspiring with his father to dole out favours to
companies that invested in his businesses in a quid pro quo arrangement.
