Disproportionate assets case: CBI arrests Jaganmohan Reddy | The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the YSR Congress
(YSRC) chief Jaganmohan
Reddy after three days of intense grilling in the disproportionate assets case,
even as YSRC has alleged a conspiracy by the Congress and the Telugu Desum Party
(TDP). Reddy, grilled for about seven and half hours here was arrested around
07:20 p.m. on Sunday at Dilkusha Guest House, the CBI camp office. YSRC spokesperson
Ambati Rambabu has, meanwhile, alleged “political conspiracy” by the Congress
and the TDP. The Kadapa parliamentarian, who arrived at the CBI office at 10:30
a.m., was accompanied by Congress MP and Jagan supporter Sabbam Hari and Congress
legislators Alla Nani and S Krishna Rao. Anticipating unrest, police has stepped
up security across the state, while the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation
(APSRTC) is considering withdrawal of bus services in some sensitive districts
of the state. Local police had already issued prohibitory orders under Section
144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), banning assembly of five or more
persons. Jagan is accused of conspiring with his father to dole out favours to
companies that invested in his businesses in a quid pro quo arrangement. Reportedly,
Jagan’s mother, Vijayamma, is expected to lead the party in his absence.
