'I was very angry, but not drunk': SRK on Wankhede ban row | Bollywood actor and Kolkata Knight Riders
co-owner Shah Rukh Khan today justified his scuffle with the security personnel
at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night, saying he got very angry when
the security personnel deployed at the spot pushed small children playing on the
side of the ground. He also rubbished reports that he was drunk last night after
the match that took place between his team the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Mumbai
Indians. "I was very angry, but I was not drunk. They should apologise to me.
They were abusive. They shouldn't have spoken to me like that. They manhandled
children in the name of security. What are the kids going to do? They should know
how to behave with the children," said Khan. "I was being bullied. They were very
aggressive. I got very angry when they pushed little girls. Manhandling kids is
not pardonable. Their behavior was completely rude. I will not deny the fact that
I was not abusive," he added. Khan further said both he and his team follow a
sportsmanship spirit "We are public figures. We would never be abusive or disrespectful
to fans," he said referring to a report that claimed that he abused a Mumbai Indians
female fan. Earlier, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Vilasrao Deshmukh
said that the MCA managing committee will take final call on banning Shah Rukh
Khan or not. "The managing committee has suggested ban on SRK. Managing Committee
will decide what action to take on SRK brawl," said Deshmukh "I was not present
when the alleged incident occurred. However, MCA officials complained about SRK's
behaviour," he added. Mumbai Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Iqbal Shaikh
earlier today said the investigation into the untoward incident involving Shah
Rukh Khan is being done, and added that the Bollywood actor will be called for
inquiry only after the contents of the application are verified. "Mr. Nitin Dalal,
the honorary Secretary of MCA, he has lodged a written complaint by way of application
late last night against Shah Rukh Khan, Morani brothers and his associates for
misbehaving with them, abusing them, threatening them and manhandling the security
guard and using filthy language against some female," said Shaikh. ""We will verify
the contents of the application. And after what it transpires, thereafter as per
the inquiry we will call him if necessary," he added, when asked whether Shah
Rukh Khan would be called during the inquiry into the matter. The scuffle happened
last night when the actor and his entourage were stopped from going on to the
ground after the match, which the Kolkata Knight Riders won. The Mumbai Cricket
Association (MCA), which has lodged a police complaint into the matter, is also
considering imposing a ban on Shah Rukh Khan from the Wankhede Stadium.
