Kanimozhi slams Jayalalithaa for spending taxpayers' money on massive ads | With J Jayalalithaa celebrating her 'one year of achievements' as the Tamil Nadu Chief
Minister with massive front page advertisements on all national dailies across
the country, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi on Wednesday hit out
at the AIADMK chief, saying the government led by her has achieved nothing in
the last year. "I mean if you achieve something it is worth talking about. I don't
understand actually what they have achieved in one year. So, I don't know what's
there to talk about," said Kanimozhi, when asked whether she though that the advertisement
was the wastage of taxpayers' money. 43-year-old Kanimozhi, who is the daughter
of DMK chief M. Karunanidhi, further said the ruling AIADMK Government in Tamil
Nadu must first understand the democracy of the country. " India is a democratic
country. First let that government understand what democracy is and how an assembly
should function in the state then they can think about playing a part in the democratic
process in the national level," she said. Major newspapers were delivered today
wrapped in full-page jacket ads celebrating J Jayalalithaa's one year as the Chief
Minister of Tamil Nadu. The jacket ad running into four pages has Jayalalithaa's
full page image and list her government's achie vements. The ads are headlined:
'One year of achievements - Hundred years leap forward.' Printed on four pages,
they are dominated by an image of Ms Jayalalithaa from masthead to the bottom
of the front page. Alongside and on the three other pages are lists of her achievements
as chief minister this time around. Jayalalithaa was sworn in as the chief minister
of Tamil Nadu for the third time on May 16, 2011, having been elected unanimously
as the leader of the AIADMK party subsequent to those elections.
