Members, however, pointed out specific issues like more attention required to open more government run medical Colleges; commercialization of private medical colleges; shortage of doctors in rural areas; more incentives needed for residential and educational needs for family of doctors posted in rural areas; need for continuous medical education for faculty members. It was also suggested that the Manipal pattern where adjoining areas have been adopted by medical college for quality medical services, should be replicated country wide.
