Republican Congressman questions use of taxpayers' money

Republican Congressman from New York Peter King has questioned Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan on whether agents involved in the Colombian prostitution scandal used taxpayers' 'per diem' to pay for prostitutes. In a letter to Sullivan, King, who is chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, posed several questions as part of his committee's escalating probe into the scandal, Fox News reports. The questions covered everything from potential security risks to internal training procedures. On the issue of payment for prostitute, King posed two questions to Sullivan--how many agents paid the women, and how many 'provided monetary remuneration to the female foreign nationals involved in the alleged scandal with the per diem provided by the U.S. Government?' It is not clear how much money the agents had spent, or whether any of that money came from the government treasury. One of the women was reportedly paid 225 dollars for the night. King has said the administration needs to have a 'zero-tolerance policy'. In his letter to Sullivan, King joined other lawmakers in asking whether any members of the White House staff were involved, adding that the agents' actions could have put U.S. security at risk. King had also asked for the ages and nationalities of all female foreign nationals involved.
