India wants more than an apology over SRK's detention | Dissatisfied with the apology tendered by the United States over Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's detention at the New
York airport, Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur on Friday said this kind of repetition needs looking into and more than an apology will have
to take place. "The apology is really not enough and our Minister (External Affairs
Minister S.M. Krishna) Mr. Krishna has already made that point very clear and
certainly this kind of repetition needs looking into, and more than an apology
will have to take place," said Kaur, when asked about the apology issued by U.S.
over Khan's detention. Responding to a question whether this matter would be taken
up at the highest level in the US , Kaur said: "I think the statement the Minister
(External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna) has made should suffice. But depending
on what the need is, certainly the matters will be taken up." The US customs and
border protection authorities have expressed apologies over the detention incident
involving Shah Rukh Khan. External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna had earlier in
the day expressed his displeasure on the Bollywood actor's detention at a New
York airport, saying there should be an end to such incidents. Krishna has also
asked Indian Ambassador to US, Nirupama Rao, to take up this issue with the concerned
authorities in Washington . "It has become a habit these days to first detain
and then apologise. This can't continue," said Krishna , while expressing his
displeasure over the incident. Shah Rukh Khan, who had gone to the US to visit
the Yale University , was detained for over two hours at a New York airport.
