Qaeda wants to ‘haemorrhage’ aviation industry by planting more bombs on planes | Al-Qaeda terrorists have announced that they are training a new generation of bomb makers to target planes. A group operating out of terrorism hotbed Yemen claims it wants
to cause a “haemorrhage” in the aviation industry. According to the Daily Star,
the group said it has switched its focus from suicide bombers to disrupting
transatlantic
trade with explosives hidden on freight aircraft. A spokesman wrote online: “Our
objective is not a maximum kill but to cause a haemorrhage in the aviation industry.
This industry is so vital for trade and transportation between the US and Europe
.” Terrorism expert Neil Doyle said the strategy was known as “bleeding the West”
by extremists. Doyle added: “The aim is to cause as much disruption as possible
rather than casualties.”
