Congress workers protest against Jagan's adverse broadcast on Sonia Gandhi | Congress workers on Sunday protested the telecast of a news programme on a telugu news channel in Hyderabad, in which adverse comments were made about party President Sonia Gandhi. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah also said
he objected to the contents of the news programme featured on a news channel
called
Sakshi Television. "The way this story has been built up and broadcasted, I've
got strong objections. I said it very clearly there is no ambiguity about it,"
said Rosaiah. Congress workers demanded an apology from the channel for airing
the news feature. The Congress MP, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of the late Chief
Minister Y. S. Rajshekhara Reddy owns the channel. The Chief Executive Officer
of the Sakshi Television, Ram Reddy, said that as a media house they had the right
to express their views. "Well, I'm not a political party. I'm a newspaper and
a channel. So, I suppose each of them has an opinion about it. Everything that
is said or communicated in the media, they have a right to what they are doing
and we have a right to be righteous," said Reddy. State Health Minister Danam
Nagender and Information Technology Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy were
part
of the protest and sat outside Sakshi TV's office building. Police and security
personnel were beefed up as the crowds increased. Many workers and supporters
were held and taken into custody. Several protests were also carried out at the
channel's bureaus in the State's Karimnagar and Nellore Districts.
