President Obama's India visit to reflect shared vision of global partnership: Roemer

US Ambassador Timothy Roemer on Monday said President Barack Obama's forthcoming visit to India would deepen the relationship reflecting shared values, benefit and vision of global partnership between the two nations. Timothy Roemer said President Obama, who will arrive in Mumbai on Saturday, attached great importance to this visit, reflected in the fact that it would be the longest Presidential visit of his tenure ever since assuming office. "President of United States is going to be coming to India soon. It's going to be one of the longest stays of his Presidency. He will be in India probably longer than he will be in any other country since he's President. He's looking forward to renewing his very intimate ties and friendship with Doctor Singh. They look forward to talking about the strategic and global nature of the partnership," said Roemer. "We are very much looking forward to India and the United States working together on some of the most important issues facing mankind today. It's going to be a very important and exciting time. And a reflection of the shared values and the shared benefit and the shared vision of this global partnership," he added after his meeting with Union Home Minister P Chidambaram earlier today. Roemer met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram here on Monday to review the security situation. The meeting assumes significance as it came just four days ahead of US President Obama reaching Mumbai. They are reported to have discussed Union Home Secretary GK Pillai remarks on intelligence sharing on David Coleman Headley.
