India, Malaysia agree to enhance cooperation to counter terrorism | Condemning terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, India and Malaysia on Wednesday agreed to enhance cooperation to counter terrorism including information sharing. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Malaysian
counterpart
Dato' Sri Mohd Najib, also agreed on the establishment of a bilateral Joint Working
Group on Counter-Terrorism at an early date. They also agreed to enhance defence
exchanges and cooperation, which they decided, should be done through regular
exchanges between the Defence Ministers, senior defence officials, Chiefs of the
Armed Services. The two leaders also agreed to explore the possibilities of joint
collaboration on projects of mutual interest in the defence sector on the basis
of experience gained by both sides during the SU 30 MKM training programme,
including
in the areas of industry collaboration / partnership. The Malaysian side wants
Indian defence industry to participate in the soon to be established Malaysian
Defence and Security Park and support each others' defence exhibitions.
