Bihar polls: Notification for third phase issued

      The notification for the third phase of the six-phased State Assembly elections in Bihar was issued here today. Forty-eight out of 243 Assembly constituencies will go to polls in this phase on October 28. The districts are East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan Saran and Vaishali. The last day for the filing of nominations for the third phase is October 11 and scrutiny will be over by October 12. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till October 14. Meanwhile, 211 candidates have so far filed their nomination papers for the first phase of assembly polls. The six-phase poll for 243 seats begins from October 21 and concludes on November 20 The first phase of elections will take place on October 21 for 47 state assembly seats, the second phase on October 24, the third phase on October 28 for 48 seats, the fourth on November1 for 42 seats, the fifth phase on November 9 for 25 seats and the sixth and last phase on November 20 for 26 seats. Counting of votes will take place on November 24. Bihar has over 5.5 crore voters, who will exercise their franchise through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). (ANI) Ends AQ NNNN ZCZC ANI (National) Maoists kill three Forward Bloc activists in West Bengal Purulia (WB), Oct 4 (ANI): Three Forward Bloc activists were shot dead by armed Maoists in West Bengal's Purulia district last night. According to sources, about 50 armed Maoists raided Chirogora village late last night and dragged out the three activists from their houses and shot them dead. The deceased were identified as Leru Majhi, Dasrath Majhi, and Choto Majhi. Maoist posters claiming responsibility for the killings were found at the site, stating that all the Forward Bloc leaders were corrupt and were leading an anti-Maoist movement in the region. Maoists are active West Midnapore, Purulia and Bankura district of the state.
