Gordon Brown appointed as visiting fellow at Harvard | Britain's former prime minister Gordon Brown has been appointed as a visiting fellow at the prestigious American university of Harvard, it has been announced. Brown will kick off his fellowship with a formal address to students
at the Institute of Politics at the Boston university. He is also expected to
hold a series of discussions groups on "topical issues" and his "experiences in
public and political service," and participate in "public policy" classes with
faculty and students. A number of universities in the United Kingdom are also
understood to have approached Brown about taking up possible academic
appointments.
Brown will launch his fellowship during a short visit to the States next week,
when he will deliver the Malcolm Wiener Lecture in International Political Economy.
"We are confident our students, faculty and university community will enjoy engaging
with Gordon Brown, a prominent international leader with experience at the highest
levels of government and public service," the Telegraph quoted John C Culver,
the Institute's interim director, as saying. Reports suggested he would charge
up to 100,000 dollars (64,000 pounds) a time to deliver a number of speeches in
the Middle East.
