Hate-filled New Yorker fired by employer for burning Koran | A hate-filled fanatic who ripped pages from Koran
and burnt them as a sign of protest, near the proposed site of a Muslim community centre and mosque near Ground Zero on Saturday, has been fired from his job at
NJ Transit. According to the New York Post, NJ Transit, the New Jersey
transportation
provider, said that Derek Fenton's "public actions" violated its code of ethics
and that he “violated his trust as a state employee.” “Derek Fenton was terminated
on September 13, 2010 from his employment at NJ TRANSIT. An at-will
employee,
Fenton’s public actions violated New Jersey Transit’s code of ethics," NJ Transit
said in a statement. "NJ TRANSIT concluded that Fenton violated his trust as a
state employee and therefore was dismissed,” it added. On Saturday, Fenton burned
pages of the Koran saying, ' America should never be afraid to give their opinion.'
According to the witnesses, the act was an extreme display of fervour, apparently
inspired by the Florida pastor who vowed to torch the holy books earlier in the
week.
