Heavy rain inundates Ahmedabad's Sardar Patel stadium | International cricket venue Sardar Patel stadium at Motera
here was inundated with over six feet deep water logged in it following heavy rains in the last two days. Speaking to media persons, Rajesh Patel, Secretary
of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), said that the heavy rainfall had inundated
the stadium upto 12 to 15 feet. "About 12 to 15 feet of water was on the ground.
You will still find that water is there. We have started the work from last evening,
but it will still take one to two days to flood out this water," Patel added.
Patel said the estimated loss could be anywhere between Rs 50-60 lakh. "However,
the exact figure could be made only after the water is cleared," he added. On
a confident note, he said the Test match between India and New Zealand to be played
here on November 4 would take place. "Yes, from November 4 there is a Test match
between India and New Zealand , but we have relaid the pitch and the grass has
already come there. So I think there will be no problem for that and we will work
out and make it perfect for the Test match," he added. Motera will be the venue
to host the first Test match between India and New Zealand to be played between
from November 4 and 8 this year. |
