Injured Haddin eyeing India tour comeback following revolutionary blood treatment

Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin is aiming to earn his place back in the national team for next month's tour of India after undergoing a novel blood treatment to fast-track his recovery from injury. Haddin missed last month's ODI series against England and the two Tests played against Pakistan that followed due to a tendon injury that made batting impossible for him. The 32-year-old has worked hard to overcome the problem, but was helped by a recent treatment that resulted in having his blood drawn and the red blood cells and plasma separated. A doctor injected the resultant concentration of platelets back into the affected area, and Haddin insists that he has felt relief ever since. "I've had two [procedures] and the second injection seemed to calm the tendon down and that has allowed me to get some strength back into my arm," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Haddin, as saying. "Touch wood, but it hasn't responded badly at all ... I've been 'shadow batting', which I guess is a bit like playing air guitar, and it's a good sign," he added. The tour to India is due to begin on September 25 and end on October 24. It consists of two Tests in Mohali and Bangalore , as well as a three-match ODI series.
