Nepal Maoists to table no confidence motion by October 7 |
Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that
his party would table 'no confidence' motion in the parliament against the UML-led
government if there's no agreement to resolve the question of civilian supremacy.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Prachanda said the Maoist party would
try to reach an understanding with the UML and the Nepali Congress till October
7, but it would go for no confidence motion if the talks failed. He also said
that the budget of the government would not be passed, as his party will not end
the obstruction in the parliament unless the demands are met He also claimed that
his nine-month long premiership embodied civilian supremacy whereas Prime Minister
Madhav Kumar Nepal came to power at the cost of it. He also blasted at Nepali
Congress and the UML for not allowing a parliamentary debate on the Maoist 'commitment
proposal' on the President's move. "Parties that are against parliamentary debate
on the President's move do not have moral authority to talk about democracy, Nepalnews
quoted him as, saying. Earlier, Prachanda has threatened to launch a decisive
revolt in Nepal if the Maoist-floated resolution motion on civilian supremacy
were not debated in the Parliament. "Unless we ensure and bag victory, our revolt
will continue. This time the reactionaries will be obliterated by the Maoists
from the country's political scene," he said. |
