Three Maoists arrested after gun battle in Jharkhand | Police recently arrested three Maoists cadres after a fierce gun battle in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh
district. The arrested Maoists owe their allegiance to the Tritiya Prastuti Committee
(TPC), a breakaway faction of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), in Keredari
forest areas of the district. "Acting on a tip off, police raided the spot. But
they had escaped into jungles. Then we again got information that they were present
in Bengwari village. Acting on the same, police went there and that's where encounter
took place. Three people have been arrested. Out of which, one is injured," said
Pankaj Kamboj, Superintendent of Police. Police said that about 150 rounds were
fired after which rebels started giving up. A few bullets, a lot of Maoists documents,
some SIM cards and many bags were recovered from the spot. Jharkhand is one of
the worst hit by Maoists. Equipped with automatic weapons, mines and explosives,
the Maoists carry out attack and cripple economic activity. Maoists have formally
been labelled as a terrorist group by the Central Government. |
