Manmohan Singh recalls Kanishka bombing | Terming the 1985 Air India Kanishka bombing as the most horrific incident, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday said terrorism must be fought and eliminated with determination and joint action. "This was a horrific incident,
which shook the world's conscience. No religion, faith or cause can justify such
violence or inhumanity. We must rededicate ourselves to fighting and eliminating
terrorism with determination and joint action," he said on the 25th anniversary
of the crash. "It is with a sense of deep pain and sorrow that I join the families
and friends in paying my homage to all those who fell victim to this most barbarious
act. The bombing of the Air India Flight 182 from Canada to India that killed
329 people is seen as one of the world's deadliest terrorist strikes. The Air
India flight from Montreal to London, originating in Vancouver, exploded and crashed
off Ireland on June 23, 1985. |
