Manmohan Singh to undertake two-day Kashmir visit from Monday

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will undertake a two-day visit to Kashmir from Monday onwards. Dr. Singh is likely to renew the Central Government’s offer for talks for those who are outside the mainstream politics and also review the progress in the Round Table peace initiative and development work being undertaken in the state. The Prime Minister will address a convocation of the Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural University in Srinagar, said official sources. In his second tenure as Prime Minister, this will be the second occasion when Dr. Singh will be visiting the Kashmir valley. He visited Sringar last October. Dr.Singh will also be accompanied by Union Ministers Farooq Abdullah, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Prithviraj Chavan. The Prime Minister will begin his visit by holding consultations with various political parties of the state over the progress on recommendations made during the two sessions of the Round Table Conference chaired by him.
