Baby elephant rescued from well after 20-hour rescue operation in Kerala | A baby elephant that fell into a well on Friday has finally been rescued after a 20 hour rescue operation undertaken by forest officials and local villagers in Palakkad town of Kerala. The rescue could be possible with the help of two trained elephants brought from the adjacent Parambikulam forest range.
The pachyderms towed the calf out of the well, as the villagers and officials
dug a slanting passage for it to climb out easily. The four-year-old elephant
fell into the well when it entered the residential area of Vadakkethara along
with its herd. Local residents came to know about the incident early in the morning
on Friday and informed the forest department. The mishap drew a large number of
villagers who rendered their services as required by the forest officials. |
