BJP, JMM agree to retain CM's post by rotation | The political drama in Jharkhand finally came to an end on Tuesday with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) agreeing to retain the Chief
Minister's post for 28 months by each of the two parties. This political turmoil ended following BJP General Secretary Arjun Munda's meeting with JMM chief Shibu
Soren on Monday. The duo reportedly agreed to the terms of the government formation
in the state. "We will share the power for 28 months each. This is the formula
that we have agreed upon. Half term will be under my leadership and half term
under the BJP," said Soren. The BJP has picked Munda as its Chief Ministerial
candidate. He will lead the state government for the next 28 months and then the
JMM will take over. "The consensus that we have arrived at is from now the government
will run under BJP leadership for the next 28 months and then after that JMM will
lead the government," said Munda. The JMM-led government in Jharkhand was reduced
to a minority on April 28 after the BJP withdrew its support, as it was reportedly
upset withy Soren for voting with the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government
on the cut motion. |
