BJP puts decision to withdraw support from Soren Government on hold | The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand on Friday announced that it has put on hold its earlier decision of withdrawing support to the Shibu Soren Government in
Jharkhand. The decision came just a day after coalition partner Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) said it was ready to back a government led by the BJP. The BJP is reportedly
exploring ways of government formation and was holding talks with other allies. On
Thursday, BJP deferred meeting Governor MOH Farooq over withdrawal of support. The
trigger for a rethink on the part of BJP over pressing for withdrawal of support was provided
last night by a second letter from JMM legislature party leader Hemant Soren,
son of Shibu Soren, to BJP President Nitin Gadkari. Heman informed Gadkari that
the JMM would support a new government led by BJP. Meanwhile, the party has called
all its present allies in the state to Delhi to consult them before it agrees
to head a government in Jharkhand. Soren sent two letters to the BJP on Thursday
apologizing for betraying his ally by voting for the union government, and against
the BJP's cut motion, twice in Parliament. |
