Mayawati expels Mukhtar Ansari from BSP | Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj
Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has expelled criminal-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari and his brother Afzal Ansari from the party. A press release issued on Friday
by the party said that the decision to expel them was being taken as the two were
involved in anti-party and criminal activities. Both Afzal and Mukhtar are currently
in jail in connection with the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator
Krishnanand Rai. According to the release, Mukhtar had failed to live up to the
expectations of the BSP where he was given entry on the promise that he would
mend his ways. Recently, during a raid in Ghazipur jail, authorities recovered
mobile phones and other objectionable material from Mukhtar's possession. He was
also found to be regularly meeting people and running his criminal empire from
the jail premises. |
