Bride agency in Malaysia offers wives on instalments! | A foreign bride agency in Malaysia has come up with a novel strategy to boost its business- instalment payment scheme for clients who cannot afford to pay a
lump sum. And the prospective clients, who are mainly fishermen, are thoroughly investigated to ensure that they could settle the instalments after their marriage.
A fisherman in the Parit Jawa fishing village in Malaysia was one of the first
who was eligible for the scheme recently. Muar-Batu Pahat Fishermen's Association
president Ser Boon Huat said the 39-year-old man contacted the agency, which demanded
RM15,000 to arrange his marriage to a 22-year-old Vietnamese. He said the fisherman
could shell out only RM6,000, but the agency allowed him to settle the rest of
the sum at RM1,000 per month without interest. Ser said that now the Vietnamese
was living with fisherman as his legal wife after he paid a "deposit" and registered
their marriage. The fisherman, on conditions of remaining anonymous, confirmed
yesterday that he hired the services of the agency. He said he could not find
any suitable local woman because he was poor. "My friends persuaded me to marry
a foreign woman because it is cheaper and there was an agency which offered such
services," The New Strait Times quoted him as saying. "But it was more than I
bargained for. It is not cheap, but I'm already committed to it," he added. He
further said that he had yet to meet his parents-in-law and was undecided as to
whether he would hold a marriage ceremony in Vietnam . He wants to wait until
he had paid off the agency's debts before deciding on having children. |
