Royal Challengers register maiden win in IPL-3 beating Kings XI Punjab | Anil Kumble-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered its first win in the ongoing Indian Premier League tournament, by beating the Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets. Jacques Kallis, who led the his Royal Challengers team to a victory with the help
of an impressive unbeaten 89 off 55 balls. Earlier, Kings XI Punjab won the toss
and elected to bat first. Openers Ravi Bopara and Manvinder Bisla added 129 runs
for the first wicket. Kings XI Punjab finished at 203/3 in 20 overs. Bopara made
77 off 50 balls, while Bisla made 75 off 51 balls. Jayawardene remained unbeaten
on 26. Bisla hit 7 boundaries and 4 sixes during his knock. The target of 204
looked tough on paper, but Robin Uthappa and Jacques Kallis made it easier with
their hard-hitting strokes. Uthappa and Kallis added 69 runs from 5.5 overs.
Uthappa
made 51 off 21 balls with 4 boundaries and 4 sixes. Jacques Kallis lead the charge
after Uthappa's departure. He finished at 89 off 55 balls with 8 boundaries and
five sixes. RCB reached 204/2 in 18.5 overs. Manish Pandey made 38. Kallis was
declared 'Man of the Match'. |
