Abhinav Bharat denies involvement in Pune blast | Abhinav Bharat, a radical group accused of a blast at
Malegaon town in 2008, on Tuesday objected over allegations that the group was involved in the bomb blast at German Bakery in Pune that killed 15 people. Himani
Savarkar, President of right-wing group Abhinav Bharat and a relative of Indian
freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, refuted all allegations and accused the Congress
Party of hoodwinking people by making such claims. "The inclusion of our
organisation's
name in the blast probe is a conspiracy and the ruling Congress party is trying
to defame our organisation...the government is doing this to hide its failure
and to mislead people...Abhinav Bharat has never been involved in militant activities
and it was established for national service...Abhinav Bharat doesn't need to carry
out any blast," Savarkar stated. She added that Abhinav Bharat is a revolutionary
organisation involved in nationalist activities and also threatened to file a
case of defamation. "I will go to the court on this issue. Some people are trying
to defame Abhinav Bharat intentionally and we will file a case of defamation,"
she added. Founded in 2006, Abhinav Bharat was established as an educational trust
with Himani Savarkar - daughter of Gopal Godse, brother of Mahatma Gandhi's
assassin
- as its chairperson. Abhinav Bharat has been accused of causing a blast at
Malegaon town in 2008. |
