Police yet to confirm nationalities of dead and injured | Indicating that there could be more foreign nationals among the dead and the injured in the German Bakery blast, Pune’s Joint Police Commissioner Rajendra Sonwane on Saturday evening said that the nationalities of the dead persons were being identified. “So far eight deaths have been confirmed
and 32 people were injured. Indeed it looks like a bomb blast. It is suspected
as bomb blast but not yet confirmed,” said Joint Police commissioner Rajendra
Sonwane on a private channel. “We are verifying the nationality of the injured
and the killed persons in the bomb blast, said Joint Police Commissioner Rajendera
Sonwane. “We shifted the injured to various hospitals in Pune with the help of
public,” he added. The explosion, which reportedly left about 8 persons, including
three foreign nationals and 33 injured here this evening at the German Bakery,
was a bomb blast in which Improvised explosive device (IED) was used. At least
five to seven kilogram of IED was used in the bomb blast, which occured outside
the German Bakery here, NDTV reported Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) sources as
saying.
Initial reports suggested Indian Mujahideen is being suspected to be behind the
blast, the report added. At least eight persons, including three foreign nationals,
have died and 33 injured, including a Sudan national, in the bakery blast which
has occurred here at about 6.30 or 7.30 p.m. in Koregaon Park here. |
