Pak to boycott only bilateral cricket series with India: Jhakhrani | Pakistan would continue to play against India in cricket tournaments involving other countries, and would
boycott only bilateral series, Sports Minister Aijaz Hussain Jhakhrani has said.
Jhakhrani informed the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Sports that as
per the policy desicion Pakistan would only boycott bilateral matches with India,
but the country would participate in the World Cup 2011 and other mega events
to be played in that country. Meanwhile, the committee's chairman Jamshed Dasti
asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt to resign from the post
following the team's double white-wash in Test and one-day series Down Under.
"The affairs of the board show that you have lost grip over the things, therefore
you should step down as PCB chief," Dasti told Butt during the committee's meeting
here. The committee also decided to ask the State Bank of Pakistan to freeze all
accounts of the PCB, citing serious misappropriation of funds in the board, The
Daily Times reports. The committee also took up the issue of exclusion of Pakistani
cricketers from the Indian Premier League's (IPL) third edition and sought details
from Sports Ministry and the PCB.
