Gag order on Pak players following conflicting statements on IPL snub | Pakistani cricketers have been asked not to comment on the Indian Premier League (IPL) fiasco, as conflicting statements by the players are adding to the confusion surrounding their participation in the cash-rich T20 league.
The gag order comes after all-rounder Shahid Afridi issued two contradictory statements
in the last couple of days on the snubbing of Pakistani players during the IPL-3
auction. "The team management has told the players to avoid making comments on
the IPL, while the sports management company that represents some of these players
has also issued the same order," The Daily Times quoted a Pakistan Cricket Board
(PCB) official, as saying. Earlier, Afridi had issued a press release stating
that he has forgiven people responsible for the IPL fiasco, and would play in
India if invited. However, hours after he took a u-turn from his remarks, saying
he is not interested in the IPL any more. The flamboyant all-rounder said apologies
could not compensate for the humiliation faced by the Pakistani cricketers during
the IPL-3 auction. |
