Will be Secretary of State once, not interested in running for president: Clinton | Hillary Clinton has said that she does not envision serving as Secretary of State for a second term and is 'absolutely not interested' in undertaking a second presidential run. In an interview to PBS, Clinton when
asked whether she saw herself doing her present job for eight consecutive years, said: “No, I really can’t. The whole, the whole eight, I mean, that that would
be very challenging. But I, you know, I don't wanna make any predictions sitting
here, I’m honored to serve, I serve at the pleasure of the President, but it’s
a, it’s a 24/7 job, and I think at some point, I will be very happy to LAUGHS
pass it on to someone else.” When asked what would she do when she is no longer
Secretary of State, Clinton said: Oh, I, there’s so many things I’m interested
in, I mean, really going back to private life and spending time reading, and writing,
and maybe teaching, doing some personal travel, not the kind of travel where you
bring along a couple of hundred people with you. Just focusing on, on issues of
women, girls, families, the kind of intersection between what’s considered ‘real
politique’ and real life politics, which has always fascinated me.” As far as
running for president was concerned, she said: “Absolutely not interested.” On
her husband and former president Bill Clinton, she said: “He sure is an asset
LAUGHS because the people I don’t know, he does know LAUGHS and the
places I haven’t been, he’s been. We talk all the time, I ask advice about every issue
you can imagine. I, I have such a, you know, great ongoing conversation with Bill
that’s lasted for so many years, and I find him a great sounding board for me.” |
