I never wanted anything like Perth Test flare-up to happen: Watson

Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has said that he is learning from his mistakes and the jumble against West Indies skipper Chris Gayle is something that he definitely does not want to happen again. Watson faced criticism for his overblown celebration when he took Gayle's wicket in the Perth Test of the recently concluded series. “I never wanted anything like that to happen. It was just raw emotion that came out of me. It was nothing that was planned. For me, I had to sit back and think, 'well, that was raw emotion and how am I going to control it next time?' The last thing I want is for it to happen again,” The Telegraph quoted Watson, as saying. “In the end, I got a lot of people offside, that's the last thing I wanted to do. I don't want to look silly and disrespectful to the opposition. I never want that to happen again. It's not an ideal situation, people commenting on me as a person (from that incident), and I know I'm continuing to develop as a person and cricketer in front of a national audience,” he added. Though Watson admitted that his celebration went too far, but said it was in response to Gayle baiting him before he came on to bowl. “It's definitely not an ideal situation and all I'm trying to do is to become a better person and cricketer every single time I step out on the field,” he said.
