Aamer, Umar Akmal among 26 Pak cricketers registered for IPL -3 auction | Twenty-six Pakistani cricketers, including the teenage bowling sensation Mohammed Aamer and young middle order
batsmen Umar Akmal, have registered their names for auction for the third edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League ( IPL ). Total 97 cricketers have sent
their names for the auction, which is scheduled to take place on January 19. The
list also includes four players from Associate countries - Rizwan Cheema and Khurram
Chohan ( Canada ), Ryan ten Doeschate ( Netherlands ), Niall O’Brien ( Ireland
) as well as former Zimbabwe players Murray Goodwin and Ray Price , The Daily
Times reports. Electrifying West Indian fast bowler Kieron Pollard has also applied
for the auction for the T20 extravaganza. However, registering their names only
does not guarantee the players that they would be included in the auction list.
After the registration, the IPL would now send the names of the 97 cricketers
to the franchises who will then select those players they would like included
in the auction. In 2009, over 100 players registered for the auction out of which
50 went under the hammer to fill 17 available foreign slots. |
