India, Pakistan exchange nuke installation lists | India and Pakistan on Friday exchanged lists of their nuclear installations. This is the 19th consecutive year where both the countries exchange the list of nuke establishments as per a bilateral agreement,
which prohibits any kind of attack on such facilities. According to the External
Affairs Ministry, the list of nuclear installations were exchanged through diplomatic
channels simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad. On December 31, 1988, both
India and Pakistan signed a bilateral Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations
and Facilities Agreement, which came into force on January 27, 1991. Under this
agreement, both countries share details of their nuclear installations with each
other on the first day of every year. Experts said that the pact is one of the
best confidence-building measures between the two countries, which has continued
even when relations have witnessed a chill. |
