Chidambaram dismisses reports of Centre's flip-flop on Telangana

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday dismissed the charge of flip-flop on the part of Centre on Telangana issue. Interacting with the media after releasing monthly report card of the Home Ministry, Chidambaram said the meeting of political parties from Andhra Pradesh to be held on Tuesday is to devise a mechanism and roadmap on resolving the problem. Chidambaram hoped if all political parties show good will and accommodation, a solution can be found to the issue. He said the report in a section of the media on the lifting of the ban on the prepaid connection in the state is incorrect. "The Centre will revisit the issue of ban on prepaid mobile connection in Jammu and Kashmir if the service providers are able to come out with a fool-proof plan of hundred per cent verification," Chidambaram said. Commenting on strict visa rules for foreign tourists, Chidambaram said the overwhelming majority of tourists who visit India for a few weeks will face no difficulty whatsoever on the break of 60 days before applying for another tourist visa.
