Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister M S Gill on Tuesday assured of organising a grand opening and closing ceremony for the Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010. Addressing media after attending a review meeting of the Commonwealth Games, Gill said : "As I said earlier, our main agenda was discussing the organization of a grand opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games. The decisions were taken in the presence of all the members of the Organizing Committee and the fellow ministers. Now, a grand opening ceremony can be organized smoothly and everybody is satisfied with the decisions taken in the meeting." He added that all the doubts about adding to the structure of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium which is one of the key venues of the Commonwealth Games have been dealt with now. The 2010 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee has created considerable excitement all over the sporting world by delaying things to an extent where no one knows whether any of the stadia will be constructed in time. As the date for the 2010 Games comes closer, we could even see construction-workers running on the job while balancing bricks on their heads. Which could even be a new event for future Commonwealth Games.
