Governor asks Shibu Soren to prove majority by Jan 8; Swearing-in on Wednesday | Jharkhand Governor K Sankaranarayanan on Monday asked Chief Minister-designate Shibu Soren to prove majority on the floor of the Assembly by January 8. According to Raj Bhawan sources the time of oath taking on Wednesday
has also been preponed to 10.30 in the morning. Meanwhile, the Centre has
recommended lifting of the President Rule in the state, which was existing since
January. Earlier in the day addressing a joint press conference with Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari in Mumbai, Soren expressed confidence that the
new alliance comprising Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the BJP and the All
Jharkhand Student's Union (AJSU) would provide a stable
government in the state. "Jharkhand needs a stable government at this crucial
juncture," he said, Soren also added that he is aware of the functioning of Gadkari
and is confident that the alliance will work well. "Though the Jharkhand is a
mineral-rich state, the people there are poor and only a stable government can
help improve the situation," Soren said. Gadkari said all the alliance partners
will evolve a common programme for governance in Jharkhand. |
