TRS activists protest against Congress lawmaker

Pro-Telangana activists protested outside a medical institute against a Congress Member of Parliament who has opposed the creation of Telangana. Activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), the party spearheading the campaign of separate Telangana state to be carved out of Andhra Pradesh , rushed to the Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences after getting information that L Rajagopal, who mysteriously went missing from a hospital, had come back. The protestors demanded that Rajagopal, a Congress MP, who went missing from a hospital in southern Vijayawada since Sunday should be sent back. Rajagopal was arrested last week during his protest against the proposed Telangana state and was shifted to a Vijayawada hospital. He slipped off from the hospital on Sunday and then appeared at the Nizam medical institute after almost 15 hours. Heavy security has been deployed outside the medical institute to prevent any outbreak in the area. State Chief Minister K Rosaiah has said that a case has been registered against Rajagopal and action would also be taken all those responsible for negligence. "A case was registered against him for his wild escape... According to criminal procedure, the proper action will be taken against Rajagopal and proper action will also be taken against the police officials for their negligence... Not only the suspension, but officials present during the incident at the hospital will further be punished," he added. Earlier, TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao went on 'fast unto death' for the formation of a separate state of Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh . After the 11-day fast by Rao, the central government on December 9 agreed to initiate the process for the formation of a separate Telangana state. But move has met with resistance by United Andhra activists.
