Vintage cars roll out on the streets of Bangalore

A vintage car rally was hosted for enthusiasts of old automobile beauties in Bangalore on Sunday, where a good number of classic and vintage cars took to the roads. The rally hosted by Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club, saw a record entry of 150 vintage cars and the theme of the rally was related to spread the message of greener and cleaner Bangalore. Among the vintage beauties on view were Wolseley, Lancaster , Jaguars, Ford, Mercedes Benz, Chevrolet, Dodges, Plymouth , Desoto, Austin , Fiat and Morris Minors. A good number of these cars were once owned by the kings of yesteryears and no wonder, the lovers of vintage cars were ecstatic. “We have organised this rally for a greener and cleaner Bangalore . Just to make an awareness and to bring all these beauties to showcase for the Bangaloreans and also for people in the country with a social message,” said Ravi Prakash, Secretary of Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club. Raeez Khan, a participant from Goa who owns a 1928 model of Oxford Morris, said that it was a romantic experience for him as he was participating for the first time. “We are owning a 1928 Oxford Morris with a handle (crank) start and its beautiful experience. First time we are taking part in Bangalore for a vintage car rally. It is fantastic feeling. I have got my nephews from Dubai and my wife from Goa to take part in this rally. It has been a wonderful experience,” Khan said. Riding high in spirits the elated participants say vintage cars have their own elegance and beauty that can't be replaced by any new model. Showcasing the best of the bygone era, the rally provided a glimpse of the best collections that left the audience spellbound.
