Pak should act against 26/11 perpetrators: India reiterates | India on Wednesday reiterated that it expects Pakistan to act with purpose against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack. Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said: "Government expects Pakistan
to act with purpose against the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack as also to unearth
the wider conspiracy which motivated, planned and launched the attack." Krishna
informed the House that Pakistan has stated that it will bring the perpetrators
of the Mumbai attack to justice. "Any meaningful dialogue with Pakistan can only
be based on fulfilment of its commitment, in letter and spirit, not to allow territory
under its control to be used in any manner for terrorist activities against India,"
he added. Under India-Pakistan negotiations, four rounds of the Composite Dialogue,
which has encompassed eight subjects including Jammu and Kashmir, Sir Creek and
Siachen, were held from 2004 to 2008 and the fifth round commenced in 2008. In
the fifth round, Foreign Secretary level talks on Peace and Security, including
Confidence Building Measures (CBM) and Jammu and Kashmir, and Home Secretary
level
talks on Terrorism and Drug Trafficking were held before the dialogue process
was paused after the terrorist attack on Mumbai on November 26, 2008, Krishna
informed the House. |
