Two Indians injured, diplomats' houses damaged in Kabul blast | India on Tuesday condemned the suicide car attack
this morning near a hotel in Kabul which injured two Indians and partly damaged houses of three Indian diplomats that were situated closeby in the residential
complex. "We unequivocally condemn this cowardly act. Our hearts go out to the
victims," said Vishnu Prakash, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson in the
national capital. The bomb blast reportedly killed at least eight people and left
40 injured. The incident occurred when a suicide bomber blew him up outside the
gate of the Heetal hotel in the Wazir Akbar Khan district, near a guest house
where at least 40 Indians were staying. The two Indians injured in the attack
are the employees of the Internet Company IO global. Nearly 4,000 Indians are
working in Afghanistan on various developmental projects and India has pledged
1.2 billion dollars for the reconstruction of Afghanistan. Afghan insurgents oppose
Indian efforts in Afghanistan and the Indian nationals, working in Afghanistan,
are being targeted and remain on militants' hit list. Previously, militants have
targeted the Indian embassy in Afghanistan capital Kabul on two occasions in July
2008 and October 2009. |
