Congress party is in a state of confusion over Telangana issue: BJP | The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday said the Congress party was confused and was acting in a haphazard manner over creation of Telangana State by not even taking its State unit into confidence before going ahead with such an important decision. "BJP was always in favour
of the Telangana state. But Congress seems to be very confused over the issue.
When they decided to create Telangana they should have decided to take their own
government in Andhra Pradesh in confidence," said Rajnath Singh during a press
conference in Ranchi. Rajnath Singh held the Congress party responsible for the
imbroglio over the issue of Telangana and said that proper management of the state
should be taken under consideration for apt functioning of any newly created state.
"There are several things which have to be kept in mind while carving out a new
state such as the social aspect of it and the financial, geographical and political
angles. If there is confusion on that part, it will be akin to opening the Pandora's
Box," Rajnath Singh said. Earlier, Rajnath Singh campaigned for the candidates
of his party contesting in the final phase of the five-staged elections to the
state legislature election to be held on December 23. The regional party, Telangana
Rashtra Samiti (TRS) had been spearheading a campaign for a separate Telangana
state. It had joined hands with Congress party in 2004 to fight regional and national
polls, and the Central government had promised to consider its demand for a separate
state. However, TRS had to withdraw support from the Congress-led ruling coalition,
saying that the progress on the issue was slow and blamed it of betrayal on the
issue. |
