Andhra Congress leader urges Centre to send emissary to clear air on Telangana

Senior Andhra Pradesh Congress leader J.C. Diwakar Reddy on Sunday urged the Union Government to send an emissary to clarify doubts raised by legislators representing the Rayalseema and coastal Andhra regions. Diwakar Reddy was the first one to put in his papers as a legislator after opposing the Centre’s announcement to initiate formation of separate Telangana State . Interacting with the media here, Reddy, said: "Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and the Union Home Secretary (G K Pillai) have spoken on the issue. There is some confusion. We request the Centre to send a representative to clarify the doubts. It will help restore normalcy in the state.” “The representative from the centre could also have a dialogue with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) leaders to resolve the crisis,” he added. Commenting on the resignation of MLAs, Reddy said: “The ball is in the court of the speaker. He however did not rule out the possibility of MLAs taking back the resignation in the event of the current crisis being resolved amicably.” Dismissing allegations that the resignations were an organised campaign against the State Government Reddy maintained, “It was a voluntary decision by the legislators themselves.” He also opined that imposition of President's Rule is not a solution to the crisis. Reddy expressed confidence that the ongoing problem would be resolved and governance will be back on track.
