Rashtravadi Shivsena demands execution of Afzal Guru | Activists of the Rashtrawadi Shivsena staged a demonstration here on Sunday demanding execution of parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru. Country is observing
the eighth anniversary of the parliament attack on Sunday. Five gunmen had stormed
the heavily guarded Parliament complex in December 2001 and killed nine people
before being shot dead by guards. The death sentence of Mohammad Afzal Guru ,
accused of conspiracy in the attack, has been stayed, as his mercy petition is
pending before the President. The activists organised a fire ritual to pay homage
to the martyrs and later took out a procession holding an effigy of Afzal Guru.
They also raised slogans against the UPA Government for not punishing the guilty
and also set the effigy on fire. The protestors said the Union Government has
failed to take action against the terrorists. "Today, we have come here to pay
homage to those martyrs and also to demand from the Government and from the Home
Minister that Afzal Guru and Kasab who attacked Mumbai, made effort to destroy
the unity and integrity of our country. They should not be treated like brothers,”
said Jai Bhagwan Goyal, chief of the Rashtrawadi Shivsena party. “Through today's
protest, we want to demand from the Government, from Sonia Gandhi , from Manmohan
Singh and from P. Chidambaram that as soon as possible, these people should be
hanged to death in public glare,” he added. |
