Blame the 'evil shirt' for Chelsea's defeat against City! | Chelsea lost to Manchester City this weekend because the team was wearing a cursed shirt. Wearing their traditional
royal-blue kit, Carlo Ancelotti's men got their campaign off to a flying start
when they beat Manchester United on penalties in the Community Shield, then cruised
to eight consecutive Premier League wins, The Sun reports. But they came unstuck
when they played in their navy and yellow second strip for the first time, crashing
3-1 at Wigan. Blues wore the same outfit for the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa and
again as they slipped to a Carling Cup penalty-shootout defeat at Ewood Park.
On Saturday, Chelsea again donned the jinxed colours and slumped to a 2-1 defeat
against Manchester City at Eastlands. The only four times they have worn the new
navy strip, they have ended up on the losing side. Chelsea will be back in their
home kit tonight as they host APOEL Nicosia in their final Champions League group
game. "We had some injury problems with John Terry, Michael Ballack and Ashley
Cole, and I want to look at them before I name my squad. We can use some young
players in the squad if those three are not able to play," Ancelotti said. |
