After two days of shutdown that witnessed a collision between students of Osmania University and the state police here and sporadic incidents of violence in other places on Monday, the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) today moved an adjournment motion in the State Assembly asking the State government to issue a declaration on formation of a Telangana State. The Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh assembly however, did not give in to their demands and the house was adjourned. The Telangana issue and the resolution of the TRS will now be decided in the assembly on Friday (December 11). Meanwhile in New Delhi , Congress Members of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh will be attending an emergency meeting in Parliament to discuss the Telangana issue. Rao is firm about his demand for a separate Telangana state and indicated that only an assurance from the Prime Minister could change his decision. On Monday, two TRS MLAs Harish Rao and E Rajendra were taken into preventive custody after leading an attack on the Osmania University . The students and the security forces clashed at the Osmania University after security forces entered the premier institution to remove the leaders of the Joint Action Committee of Telangana students. Normal life was disrupted on Monday following the protests. The State Congress is looking to the center for a solution to end the deadlock. Several trains were disrupted following the TRS bandh including the Rajdhani and A.P. Expresses that were delayed for nearly six hours. Concerned at the continuing violence in the region, Chief Minister K Rosaiah has convened an all-party meeting in an attempt to break the stalemate after the Congress Legislature Party adopted an agreed resolution authorising Congress president Sonia Gandhi to take an apt decision.
