Govt released Rs 742 crores for modernisation of police forces | The Government on Tuesday stated that it has released over Rs 742 crores over the modernisation of police forces. "A High Powered Committee under the Chairpersonship of Additional Secretary (CS) in the
Ministry of Home Affairs has been constituted to approve the MPF annual action
plans and monitor the progress of the implementation of the approved action plans.
At the State level a State Level Empowered Committee under the Chairmanship of
Chief Secretary of the concerned State exists for monitoring the implementation
of the Scheme in the State," Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs
Mullappallay Ramachandran, Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs stated
through a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday "In addition,
a system of concurrent audit of Central funds released under the MPF Scheme has
been introduced from the last quarter of the financial year 2008-09 to oversee
the utilization of Central funds by the States under the Scheme for Modernization
of State Police Forces," the reply added. The Government has informed that the
utilization certificates from the States for the Central funds released in 2008-09
would become due on 01-04-2010 and for the Central funds being released during
the current financial year, 2009-10 the utilization certificates from the States
would become due on 01-04-2011. |
