Lal Bahadur Shastri’s watch stolen from his memorial | Days after reports of a burglary from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, thieves struck again in the Lutyen’s Delhi, when a watch belonging to late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur
Shastri was stolen by unidentified miscreants from the Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial
in the national capital. The watch had historic significance as it was gifted to Shastri
by his Russian counterpart Alexei Kosygin during the Tashkent conference in 1966.
“The historical importance of that watch is too much. It was gifted to him by
Russian President and is thus, priceless. I''m from the field of history, I''m
not here to determine its cost, it is as I told you, priceless,” said Kundan Singh,
Assistant Curator of Lal Bahadur Shastri Museum. The authorities of the memorial
discovered the theft on September 3, but reported the theft on September 7. According
to reports, a complaint has been lodged in the Tughlak Road police station under
Section 380 (theft) of the IPC, and officials of the memorial said that an independent
inquiry was conducted into the incident by the memorial, but they were unsuccessful
in their task. |
